Experience Description

Join me for a 2-hour historic walk through Bandra's history from 1505 to the present day!

A stunning sunrise from the ramparts of a 500-year-old Fort overlooking the spectacular sea-link, 2 Parsi sanatoriums, one exquisitely crumbling, the other fronted like Buckingham palace; 3 churches: a 400-year old heritage Portuguese, century-old basilica, 160-year-old Presbyterian; a 200-year old horse-drinking stone trough; East Indian bungalows among jackfruit-laden trees; exquisite ochre Portuguese-style bungalows with handsome cast-iron balconies; India's most iconic film studio, wacky graffiti art and a 'betel-nut lake' with neither betel nor lake, and much much more! Join me for a 2-hour, 6 kilometer, unabashedly history-soaked walk from Bandra Fort to St. Andrew's Church. In Spanish, French, Hindi, Marathi or English: let's talk about the metamorphosis of this tiny fishing hamlet to Bombay's most thumping, happening nerve center over 511 years of history!

It was a great walk and Sachin's knowledge on the area and Mumbai's history in general was really good and appreciated his informal manner. The small group made the walk even more pleasurable. The fact that he shared additional materials on the history of the place with us was really nice. I would definitely love if walks through fishing villages are also incorporated in your list of walks.

A walk alongside the yesterday's and today's of Bandra..with Sachin. The churns and chaos of the fast moving Mumbai, is all at peace while in the morning, and this is the best time to explore the areas like Bandra. By the time Mumbai wakes up to it's busy, chaotic yet rhythmic whole, we had taken a walk around Bandra. Sachin walked me through the history of the area with local stories included while I gave him a him some input about Kerala, my Home. Thanks for having such wonderful ideas. Spread to more areas..

Great tour...en francais! Translation - What luck to have found an English speaking guide to visit my family in March! My father does not speak English but thanks to Sachin was able to discover Bandra, its narrow streets and its history. A tour highly recommend for visiting french, or even expats!

Reviewed by Rajat Bansal - Telephonically - For Sherpa Sachin - The micro tour was worth every single minute I would have otherwise slept on that beautiful Sunday Morning. Sachin is a very knowledgeable person and knows a lot about Bandra. During the micro tour, he took us to some unbelievable places within Bandra which we otherwise miss during our short visits to Bandra.

What a great tour! I've been visiting Bandra for years but had never appreciated the historical context of the neighbourhood, and it is indeed fascinating. We ended up discovering some hidden spots that I'll continue to return to, and our experience built up my curiosity for other parts of Bombay as well. Sachin was a wonderful guide. Highly recommended.

Reviewed by Shruti Agarwal - Telephonically - For Sherpa Sachin - The best part was the personalized touch to the experience, i.e Sachins hospitality. He invited all the travelers at his house for tea. Thank you and keep up the good work!
